The Story: I do not do a lot of traditional landscape style paintings. The 3 paintings below: A Ripple in Time, Sedona Moonlight and Just A Glimpse are a varition on the landscape. These works were inspired by road trips with my husband, Rick. Driving up through Arizona into Utah to explore some of the grand mountains.
Capitol Reef was our biggest surprise. We had not planned more than a quick lunch break but ended up exploring some of the dirt roads that take you in-between the mountain cliff sides. The Grand Canyon is so impressive, I find it hard to paint everything you can see, so I give you just a glimpse in hopes it will inspire something in you to make the trip out west. While you are out west a stop in Sedona is a must do, the sunsets on the red rocks glow and the full moon coming up from behind the mountains is breath taking.
On the technical side, I used a stucco on the canvases to create a background. Followed by acrylic gesso and finished with oil paints.
